ABOUT ME
I began my business as long ago as 1995 serving an apprenticeship as a traditional Shipwright (Wooden boat builder - mainly on large square-rigged ships), in Cornwall. The synthesis of form and function; the complex curves of a boat and the need for critical structural integrity laid the foundations of my woodworking skills. I am drawn to the finer, more elegant strands of woodwork, helping clients design and then creating beautiful, handmade items, always with an unusual twist or unexpected bonus.
From Client contact, through to the design process, timber selection and the manufacture in my custom workshop in the heart of rural Essex, delivery and installation, I ensure each piece will look beautiful wherever it will be displayed.
I am committed to sourcing and using local, sustainable and managed timber and products wherever practical. In certain cases I can take trees from clients and produce furniture for them. This process obviously takes some time as the timber can take years to season.
