RHS Chelsea 2019
In an extraordinary collaboration with the designer Johnathan Snow, sponsored by Trailfinders and under the main contractor Stewart Landscapes www.stewartlandscape.co.uk I created a wooden bridge to wind through and over their garden, a voyage of discovery!
The curved and laminated sections had to be designed and engineered to fulfil the brief and look fluid. I undertook several models to achieve approval. Just the woodwork alone took around 500 hours to complete.
Every component of this curved 'rollercoaster' bridge had to be custom machined or laminated in the workshop in Essex. It was made in sections, separated for transport and re-assembled at the RHS site in Chelsea as one of the largest show gardens on the main drag.
Collaboprations like this take an enormous amount of organisation and teamwork. Our efforts were rewarded with a silver medal.
